Start Making Sense - Talking Heads Tribute Lancaster Concert reviews
Sound mix was bad
I have attended Start Making Sense - Talking Heads Tribute live shows several times over the years. Great performances usually.
The Milwaukee show was a letdown. The sound mix was terrible, with bass, drums, percussion, and Bill Payne's keyboards overpowering guitars and vocals. Guitars even drowned out vocals and there were instances of feedback squeal.
Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston's guitar changes during songs seemed to pose challenges for their techs and sound crew. Some switches were not properly made, causing delays. Tom Johnston even had to stop a song introduction due to technical issues.
The set list was interesting, featuring some rare old songs, new releases, and classic hits. However, the first two-thirds of the show lacked energy, indicating room for improvement.
The venue, BMO Harris Pavilion at Summerfest, was understaffed, leading to long wait times for parking and concessions. The show was not sold out, yet lines were excessively long. Waiting in lines is not the ideal experience for paying customers.
Overall, this particular show was a disaster compared to the flawless performances I've seen before. Disappointing.
